Product Updates3 November 2026
A preview of the New UI: a redesigned invoice list, invoice page, purchase orders and settings that you can switch on today. Plus a rebuilt Supervisor Agent that knows the page you're on, lets you point at what you mean, and can do the clicking for you.
The New UI: a preview
A redesign of the screens you spend your day in. It's opt-in while we finish it: the classic screens stay the default, and you can switch back at any time.
Switch on the New UI
NewWhat's changing
There's a New UI switch in the sidebar (and in the mobile menu). Turn it on and the invoice list, invoice page, purchase orders, Add invoice, Create PO and Settings all move to the redesigned screens. Turn it off and you're back on the classic screens, straight away and in place.
Why we built it
The redesign changes how screens are laid out, not what they do. Every page keeps the same rules, checks and Xero behaviour behind it. Shipping it as a switch means you can try it on real work and tell us what's missing, without being moved before you're ready.
What you'll see
- A New UI toggle in the sidebar. The choice is remembered in the browser you set it in, and other open tabs follow it.
- Nothing changes for anyone else in your organisation until they turn it on.
- Your existing settings, such as column choices and the invoice list's default view, carry across.
An invoice list built for working through a queue
ImprovedWhat's changing
The invoice list is rebuilt around getting through invoices quickly. Saved views and filter chips sit at the top, you can choose and drag columns, pick a row density, and select several invoices to act on them together from a bulk bar. On a phone, each invoice becomes a card.
Why we built it
In the classic list, filtering meant opening a dropdown, and every invoice meant a mouse trip. People working a review queue of dozens of bills told us the list slowed them down more than the review itself. The new list keeps your hands on the keyboard and shows the filters you've applied at a glance.
What you'll see
- Keyboard shortcuts: J and K move down and up, Enter opens, X selects, and / jumps to search.
- Filter chips you can remove with one click, instead of a filter dropdown.
- A bulk bar when you've selected invoices, a density setting, and columns you can choose and reorder by dragging.
- Uploading goes through Add invoice.
An invoice page arranged around the document
ImprovedThe invoice page now puts the original document and what we read from it side by side, with the totals and any issues always in view.
a.A resizable document pane
What's changing
The original document sits in a pane on the left that you can resize, or close and reopen with \. The viewer keeps its zoom and pan controls.
Why
Checking a bill means comparing it with what was read from it. Putting the two side by side, at whatever width suits the document, takes away the scrolling back and forth.
b.A totals strip, an issues panel, and three tabs
What's changing
A totals strip across the top shows the subtotal, GST and total, and whether they reconcile. An issues panel lists anything that needs your attention. The rest of the page is split into Details, Line items and Logs tabs.
Why
On the classic page, totals and warnings could be a long scroll away from the field you were editing. Now they stay in view, so you can see when an invoice is ready to send.
c.Line items that never scroll sideways
What's changing
Line items fit the space they're given: one row per line on a wide screen, a two-tier card on a narrower one, and stacked on a phone. Account, GST and tracking are always visible without scrolling sideways.
Why
The classic line-item table was wider than most screens, so the account and tracking columns, the ones you check most, were often hidden off to the right.
d.Logs as one timeline
What's changing
The Logs tab is a single timeline of what happened to the invoice, written in plain words, without internal labels or model names.
Why
The classic logs were written for us rather than for you. The timeline answers the question people actually ask: what happened to this invoice, and when.
Purchase orders, Add invoice and Create PO
ImprovedWhat's changing
The purchase orders list and workspace, the Add invoice page and the Create PO page all move to the same layout as the invoice screens.
Why we built it
Moving between invoices and purchase orders used to feel like moving between two products. They now share one layout, so what you learn on one screen works on the others.
Settings, grouped
ImprovedWhat's changing
Settings has a grouped side menu (pills on a phone) and a new Preferences section. Links straight to a settings page still work.
Why we built it
Settings had grown into a long row of tabs. Grouping them makes each one quicker to find.
The Supervisor Agent, rebuilt to be easier to use
Before, you had to describe everything to the Agent in words: which invoice, which line, which field. Now it already knows the page you're on, you can point at what you mean, and it can do the clicking for you. It still asks before it changes anything.
The Agent on every page
NewWhat's changing
In the New UI, the Supervisor Agent lives in an orb with the Process AI mark, in a corner of every page. Click it, or press ⌘J, and the conversation opens in the middle of the screen. You can resize it, expand it, or drag the orb to the other side.
Why we built it
The Agent used to be a button on some screens, so you had to go to the right page before you could ask. Now it's there wherever you're working, and a half-read answer is still there when you come back to it.
What you'll see
- The orb in the bottom corner of every New UI page. It shows when the Agent is listening, thinking or answering.
- ⌘J to open and close it, and Esc to step back.
- A sheet that slides up on a phone.
It knows which page you're on
NewWhat's changing
The Agent follows the page you're on: the invoice list, one invoice, a purchase order, or anywhere else. It reads that page's data first, and its greeting and suggested questions fit it.
Why we built it
You used to have to tell the Agent which invoice you meant, often by its number, before you could ask anything. Now “why is this flagged?” on an invoice is about that invoice, and “what's waiting for review?” on the list is about that list.
Answers you can click
NewWhat's changing
Answers aren't just text any more. When the Agent finds invoices or purchase orders, they come back as records you can open. It can offer you choices to pick from, show figures as stats, and put any change it wants to make on a confirm card. You can also ask by voice.
Why we built it
A list of invoice numbers in a chat bubble still left you searching for each one. Clickable records take you straight there, and a confirm card shows exactly what will change before anything does.
Point at what you mean
NewWhat's changing
Use Point at in the Agent, then click a line, a field or a section of the page. Your next messages are about that part: point at a line's location and say “this paper is for the Sydney office”, and that line changes. It stays outlined while you talk, even as you scroll, and each message shows what it was about, such as About Line 2 · Location1.
Why we built it
Describing a line in words (“the second line, the paper one”) is slow, and easy to get wrong. Pointing at it removes the guesswork, for you and for the Agent.
What you'll see
- An outline on whatever you pointed at, and the Agent docked beside the page so both stay in view.
- When a line changes, its amount and GST are worked out again from the quantity, unit price and tax rate, and the invoice is checked again for discrepancies.
“Do it for me”
NewWhat's changing
Click the pointer icon in the Agent's message box and describe what you want done. An AI cursor works the page you're looking at, step by step, with what it's doing highlighted. Before anything that changes data, it stops and asks you to confirm.
Why we built it
Some jobs are a run of clicks you already know how to do. Do it for me does them on the screen in front of you, so you can watch every step, rather than somewhere out of sight.
What you'll see
- An AI cursor and highlight that follow the page as it scrolls.
- A banner with Stop (or Esc) to take back control at any point.
- A confirm step before any change to data. Password fields and the Agent's own panel are never read.
More reliable changes
ImprovedWhat's changing
We've tightened what the Agent does behind the scenes when it changes something for you.
What you'll see
- Tracking categories the Agent sets are always saved in the form Xero expects, and matched to your organisation's own categories and options. Before this, a location set by the Agent could reach Xero without its tracking.
- When the Agent changes a line, it reports the invoice's actual totals back, instead of guessing what they'll be.
- A check run straight after a change waits for the change, so it no longer reports a discrepancy the change has just fixed.
- Conversations and requests only ever reach the organisation you're signed in to.
Also in this release
Improvements to both the classic screens and the New UI.
A bank-detail check before a bill goes to Xero
NewWhat's changing
After the duplicate check, Save to Xero compares the bank account on the invoice with the supplier's bank details in Xero. If they differ, a Bank details don't match dialog shows both side by side with the difference in red. If the supplier has no bank details in Xero, you'll see Bank details not verified.
Why we built it
A supplier's bank account changing without warning is one of the most common signs of invoice fraud. Catching it at the moment you send the bill, before anyone pays it, is the cheapest place to stop it.
What you'll see
The dialog on the invoice page and in Quick view. Send Anyway is still there when you've confirmed the change with the supplier.
Line edits that add up
ImprovedWhat's changing
Changing a line's quantity or price now works out its amount and GST again, so editing a quantity and changing it back leaves no error behind. GST on expense lines is worked out correctly, and the invoice's totals are read again after a tax-rate change.
What you'll see
- One notification per action. Picking an account that changes the tax rate tells you so in a single message.
- Edits you make after a save are kept when the page refreshes.
- Searching an account or tax rate replaces the current name as you type, instead of adding to it.
